In JSM, I can create reporting widgets/dashboards.
When a query is searching for data, but data is not available, the widget shows 'no data available'.
For an end-user, this may appear as an error. In my case, the 'no data available' message is correct because the team did not report time against a specific account category.
However, all my end-users misunderstood this and thought there was a glitch.
Perhaps, if a query does not return any results due to the absence of data, the response should be something like: "The query ////////////////// is not finding any data. It's possible that there is no data to show. Please check manually."
For cases of a 'wrong query' or a 'query without an answer,' there should be a different response or 'error code' provided.
