Teams may be required to work (accrue) extra hours on delivering projects. The agreement is they are entitled to take (consume) these hours at a later time. Currently there is no way of tracking this so that time entered as Time in Lieu (TIL) appears as a negative against a separate balance.
Example.
Employee works a nominal 40 hours a week. In the last week of the month, they work 80 hours - accruing 40 hours of TIL.
The following month, the employee consumes 40 hours of TIL. As finance require 40 hours per week to be recorded, this is entered as a time code which Tempo shows as a positive.
Ideally, an employee could mark time as being TIL accruing which is then approved by their manager. This would be recorded against the employee for later consumption (a summary of dates for the entries would also be useful to ease management or in case of a 'use it or lose it policy').
When an employee 'consumes' the TIL, it reduces their TIL balance accordingly.
TIL is not permitted to be negative.
Assigning a Jira code as TIL consumption works well currently, however the tacking of balances needs to be done in a spreadsheet, which is a suboptimal solution.
