Auto populate Project and Task based on ticket

I can't possibly be the first person to request this …

Based on the selected ticket, I want the Project (at minimum) and the Task (very nice to have) selected for the user to save them clicks. It would add up to sooo many clicks over a week of entries.

Obviously there needs to be some kind of mapping interface for the admins that will require extra work on our part. But that work will scale across the WHOLE TEAM!

Here's my immediate application …
Most of the users on my team aren't tracking time against tickets but against initiatives. So we have placeholder tickets to facilitate Timesheets like Proj Badger - Definition or Proj Cupcake - Feature Dev.

It would be very easy for the managers to create mappings for these long-standing tickets once and benefit the team for many weeks or, in some cases, months.
