We recently noticed a confusing behavior in Tempo Timesheets when submitting monthly timesheets.
In My Work, a user can be viewing a specific period, for example 01/06/26 to 30/06/26. However, the main Submit Period button may display an older unsubmitted period, for example 01/04/26, because that older period is still available for submission.
We understand from Tempo Support that this is expected behavior and that the button shows the last period not submitted. We also understand that this may be useful in some cases, especially when users have older pending periods.
Our suggestion is modest: when the user is viewing a period in My Work, the main Submit Period button could show that same period if it is available for submission. If the currently viewed period is not available, then the button could show the most recent available period instead.
This would make the interface more aligned with what the user is seeing on screen and could reduce the risk of users accidentally submitting a different period than the one they believe they are submitting.
We appreciate that there may be product implications or edge cases we have not considered, such as onboarding flows, older pending periods, weekly versus monthly configurations, or audit requirements. We are sharing this as a possible improvement in case it helps reduce user confusion.
Thanks so much for your consideration.
Cheers,
M
