There was an idea T1-I-1 that requested that users should not be able to approve their own timesheets, and it was implemented in 2018.
However, for small teams that work more informally, this can cause problems. I approve my team's worksheets, and as I am also a member of the team, logging time to the same JIRA issues as the team (plus others), I need to approve my timesheets too. A mandatory rule that disallows me from doing do forces me to use up another seat in our license just to allow me to approve my own timesheets as a different user, or it forces me to assign another user the task of approving my timesheet, which is very inconvenient.
Could this "feature" be made optional, please? I can see why some teams have this work flow, but it should not be enforced on everyone because of someone's opinion on how things should be.

Fully agree. The 'approve your own timesheet' should be made optional for teams that want to be light on administration.
And second, I do not see much value that somebody who is reporting to me, needs to approve my timesheet.
Well wouldn't it be correct then ti simple auto-approve in that case? At least by option? ;)
