When selecting the date format for Reports, they all use the forward slash /
as a separator. This is English-centric or US-centric. The dot or period .
and the dash or hyphen -
are popular alternatives internationally. In particular, ISO 8601 standardized on the latter: CCYY-MM-DD
.
At least they are all using leading zeros.
The colon :
in time formats is less problematic.
Btw.: Some businesses are also week-centric, so CCYY-wWW-D
might be a more natural choice for them. Also see ideas T-I-900, T-I-855 and T-I-33.
