Currently, Capacity Planner (especially in the Resource view) is very useful for planning team workload. However, it lacks visibility into execution, which creates a disconnect between planning and actual delivery.
At the moment, to understand whether planned work has been completed, users must switch to other tools (Timesheets, Reports, or Jira issue views). This makes follow-up inefficient and breaks the workflow.
As a Project Manager, I use Capacity Planner to:
Allocate work across team members
Distribute effort over time (daily/weekly/monthly view)
Balance workload and availability
However, I also need to:
Track whether planned work has actually been completed
Compare planned vs actual effort
Identify deviations early (under/over allocation, delays)
Right now, this requires switching between multiple tools, making it difficult to manage execution in a single place.
Jira issue status in Capacity Planner
Display the Jira issue/work item status (e.g. To Do, In Progress, Done) directly in the Capacity Planner view.
Planned vs Logged progress visualization
Show a progress bar comparing planned vs logged time:
At daily level (for a specific day)
At total level (for the whole planned task)
This enhancement would:
Bridge the gap between planning and execution
Reduce the need to switch between Capacity Planner, Timesheets, and Jira
Improve project follow-up and decision-making
Help detect deviations earlier (delays, overbooking, underutilization)
Make Capacity Planner a more complete tool for both planning and tracking
