As part of my current role, I am responsible for validating that data captured in Jira Tempo is accurately reflected in Snowflake. Specifically, we need to confirm that, for each Initiative and individual user combination, the total submitted and approved hours match across both systems.

To perform this validation, I use a lookup process that compares records based on a combination of User ID and Initiative Number and then verifies that the associated hours are consistent between Jira and Snowflake. As a result, both of these fields are required in the data extracts from each system.

Unfortunately, the current raw data export from Jira does not include the Initiative Number field. Instead, it only includes the Issue Key. Without access to Jira hierarchy information in the export, there is no reliable way to automatically determine the corresponding Initiative Number for a given Issue Key. As a result, I am unable to complete the reconciliation process efficiently and accurately.

For this reason, I am requesting that the Initiative Number field be added to the Jira raw data export as soon as possible. This enhancement is necessary to support our data validation efforts and ensure the integrity of reporting across systems.

This request is particularly important because users have reported instances where hours entered in Tempo do not appear correctly in Snowflake-based reports. These discrepancies reduce trust in the reporting process and require additional time and effort to investigate and resolve.
