Actually I would consider the current behaviour a bug ... sorry to say so!
in the time tracking dialog, if I enter a key, a like search will be executed ... and I do not even see the issue with the exact match...
There is a BO-3 ticket in my system ... I can't select it by typing BO-3 ... it is not even in the list

Hello everyone, thanks so much for your patience and feedback. We’re working on this issue on Cloud and would love your thoughts on how we can make time tracking in Timesheets simpler and better.
If you're available for a quick chat, please grab a time that works for you here. We’ll keep everyone posted here as we make progress.
Thank you,

Please take steps to improve the search functionality - it is painful and has slowed our teams down significantly. It would be great to also enable partial word searches, so if I search "1234" it will bring up Jira issues with "JOB-001234" in the summary.
Opps, I thought this is for Jira Server.
but it seems that this affects cloud as well as server.
here an example
and....
when searching for an issue key the "history search" is just useless and often lists issues I'm not searching for.
You have to scroll down to the "actual search" to find the searched issue.
This irritates nearly our whole company.
This! It drives me nuts, Especially because it's not even possible to scroll down until it appears (this alone would already be really annoying) but instead every time I have to go back to search for the exact ticket name. Sometimes I loose 10-15 minutes for booking my times if there are a couple of these cases, which is unacceptable.
