Setting to disable the new Activity feed

I noticed recently that Tempo (in Jira Cloud) has started to suggest activities in the calendar app. I personally would prefer to turn this feature off as it distracting and the suggested activities are not relevant. I would like it to remain blank until I add my own chosen activities.

Hi, Global activity feed toggle is shipped! This feature allows Tempo Admins to choose the default behaviour of the Jira Suggestions (part of Activity Feed Feature) for end users. End users can still choose to use Jira suggestions for time tracking but default behaviour can be controlled in the settings now. Learn more here.

Hi Markus, yes this is a known bug and our team has released a fixed already.

I also want to provide an update that we have released a new feature in TempoLabs that allows admins to Configure the default Jira suggestion settings. You can try it in TempoLabs and we will be releasing it to all customers soon after. Learn more here

Hello everyone, since the last update of the cloud version (we noticed it today) the activity feed is visible again. Although the users have deactivated all options, the suggestions are displayed. Is this bug known?

Hi, we have this request in design phase currently and team is soon going to develop the feature.

We are aware that currently, Jira suggestions are ON by default and there's no control to switch it OFF unless users disable it individually which can be hard to enforce in a large org. Our proposed solution is to allow admins to define the default Jira suggestion behaviour for their organization and provide more helpful information about suggestions during this configuration.

Please note that this solution is only to change the default behaviour at the admin level and end users can still use suggestions if they prefer to do so.

I am also sharing the proposed designs that our teams has created, Please let me know if you have any specific feedback or suggestion. You can book me using the link in my previous comment.

    Hi,

We are migrating from our current on-prem Jira and Tempo version to their new Cloud versions, and as such, I am testing both products.

During my testing I saw this strange behavior, where suddenly Activities would show up in the Tempo screens. After searching through al the Tempo settings, I could not find any settings to disable this globally, as this is unwanted in our environment.

After some Googling, I cam across this thread, with sort of a promise to be able to disable this globally in Q1 2022. We are now in Q3 2022, and this options does not yet seem to be available.

When is this option planned? We have more than 500 Tempo users, and we do not want them to adjust their own filters by themselves on a per user basis.

@Mayank Agarwal do you have any idea when we will be able to disable this "feature" globally?

@Mayank Agarwal Do you have info if this has been implemented in Q1?

We can totally understand the pain point for some organisations where this may not be ideal at the same time we do have many customers who love the suggestions coming from different providers (Calendar, Jira, VScode, JetBrains IDE).

We are discussing this internally and will be able to provide a solution to control suggestion at an org level in Q1'22. Until then users can always control the suggestions at an individual level. Thanks for taking time to provide your feedback here.

Tempo's response to this shows they have either not read, or not understood the issue.

Making time logging "effortless" may be useful for individual users, but as a Project Manager's, Account Managers, Team Leaders etc, what we need is accurate work logs describing the actual effort taken on any particular issue. What we do not want is a button that makes it easy for developers to add a Worklog "Activity: Jira". This helps no one, and makes me doubt that the Tempo Product Team actually understand the purpose of Time logging .

To answer the specific question "Hi, thanks for your feedback! What would make this feature work for your team? We would love more specific feedback on improving this in future." What has been stated in this thread is clear - we want the ability to turn this off at an Organisation level, and make the submission of real worklogs a requirement.

This, plus the generally poor implementation of the calendar integration makes me question whether Tempo is a viable solution for my organisation in 2022

This is very Annoying, My team members are complaining about this feature, Even if they view the issue, and forget to close that entire time is added to Activity.

We should be able to disable this feature.

It's causing problems for our teams, too. It's all too easy to convert activities to worklogs and end up with bogus time entries eg look at a Jira ticket for two minutes, get a 15m activity that can be accidentally converted into a 15m worklog. Why can't we turn this off as an organisation? What were you thinking?

Yeah our people aren't happy with this. Not ideal to have to advise users to disable this ourselves when we should be able to disable it at the organisation level.

For us disabling it on organization wide level would be good. We only use the tempo plugin in Jira and not the calendar integration, VCS integration or the new automatic logging chaos feature.

We also find this feature distracting and not working for us. Please make it organization wide opt-in for the entire feature (not the visibility toggle on user base).

Hi Erin, I am sorry to hear that you find this new feature distracting. We have launched this feature to help our users log time effortlessly on the activities they have worked on. Please note that these are just suggestions and user can record time or delete the suggestion.

Users can disable the activity cards from individual providers, using the filter icon in their My Work view, see the section "Disabling the connection to providers" in our help guide (https://help.tempo.io/cloud/en/tempo-timesheets/logging-your-time/logging-time-in-my-work/logging-time-using-the-activity-feed/understanding-tempo-automation.html).

Thanks for reaching out to us and if you have any ideas about improving this feature please let us know by opening a new idea.

    Thank You
